The Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal announced who is the tennis player who excites him the most when he plays, between the Swiss Roger Federer, retired from the circuit since 2022, and the Serbian Novak Djokovic, current ATP number one.
In an interview for the Spanish newspaper El País, Nadal also revealed the strategies he used to face these two tennis players, considered among the best in history.
“To play against Federer I had a very clear tactic. He knew what I was going to look for, I knew he would try to defend himself. It was a chess game. And when you were wrong, you knew it“, Nadal narrated about his confrontations against the Swiss.
“Nole has greatly enhanced his virtues, but he has not adapted his game radically. With Djokovic there is not that level of strategy in the matches that he had with Federer,” he asserted.
In that sense, he pointed out that Federer “You have to play him at a very high level and for a long time to beat him”.
“I have been more excited to see Federer play than Djokovic, and in the end tennis is emotion and emotion is what draws you to it“, he stated.
However, he assured that, by titles, Nole is the best in history. “Regarding titles, Djokovic is the best in history and there is nothing to discuss about that. Then, as always, everyone can combine the story as they wish.“he indicated.
