Rafael Nadal is preparing to play his first big match in almost a year tomorrow. During an interview given to El Pais a few days ago, the Spanish champion returned to several subjects including that of his great rival, Novak Djokovic.
The champion with 14 Roland-Garros titles declared that he much preferred watching Roger Federer play on a court rather than seeing the Serbian whose game gives him no emotion. A simple question of taste according to Nadal, but according to some a response from the Spaniard to Djokovic’s comments according to which he could not stand the Iberian’s intimidating gestures in the locker room.
Nadal defends himself
Asked about this so-called intimidation, the champion with 22 Grand Slam titles defended himself, indicating that never at any time in his life did he try to intimidate his rivals and even less the Belgrader: ” I never, ever, ever had the intention of intimidating him or anything.
I warm up like that, trying to prepare myself and be ready for the match, and I train like that, nothing more. Honestly, I haven’t read or heard what he said about it yet.”
