Like Novak Djokovic a few hours earlier in Dubai, Rafael Nadal recalled that he held his rank perfectly. The world No 2 picked up a third title at Acapulco.
After his victories in 2005 and 2013 in the same Acapulco tournament which was then played on clay, Rafael Nadal did not fail in the final. He won 6-3 6-2 ahead of the American Taylor Fritz (ATP 35). He will not have dropped a single set in his five meetings in Mexico to take away the 85th title of his career, his first since his success at the US Open last September.
“I was extremely solid, said the Majorcan. I had the right intensity. I played with passion and my forehand worked perfectly.”
