Rafael Nadal equals Roger Federer and John McEnroe in a major success

20-time Rafael Nadal defeated Cameron Norrie 7-5, 6-2, 7-5 in the third round of the Australian Open to stay on course for the title and make history. Rafa only became the third player in the Open era with 30 straight sets won at majors.

He started his streak at last year’s Roland Garros and won ten straight straight games to put Roger Federer and John McEnroe on the exclusive list! In his most outstanding season, McEnroe won 35 straight sets at Wimbledon and the 1984 US Open, overtook Bjorn Borgs 28 straight sets that were claimed in 1980, and held the record until Roland Garros in 2007!

Roger Federer started his streak in the 2006 US Open final and extended it after conquering the Australian Open without dropping a set next January. The Swiss overtook McEnroe at Roland Garros before losing a set to Tommy Robredo in the quarterfinals and ending his streak at 36.

Nadal hit the charts after ten wins since his beloved Roland Garros last October, dealing with cold and rainy Paris weather, new Wilson balls and a roof over Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Nadal defeated all seven opponents in straight sets and played well above the rest of the field to write history books on his best surface. He remained the king of the sand for another year.

Rafael Nadal has won 30 straight sets with majors in Paris and Melbourne

Rafa had an excellent rhythm from the start and only lost 23 games in the first four games to reach the quarter-finals and gain confidence before challenging encounters.

The Spaniard had to do his best in the quarter-finals against young Italian Jannik Sinner, followed by sets one (Jannik served for the set 6-5) and two before scoring 7-6, 6-4, 6-1 in triumph just under three hours.

In the semifinals, Diego Schwartzman held Nadal for over three hours and had a chance in the third set before Rafa beat Novak Djokovic 6: 3, 6: 3, 7: 6. Rafa saved his best tennis for the most formidable opponent, crashing Novak 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 in two hours and 41 minutes, controlling the rallies and taking the win for a massive celebration of the 20th

Major crown. Despite not playing 100% due to a back injury, Nadal scored three crucial wins against Laslo Djere, Michael Mmoh and Cameron Norrie in Melbourne. He scored the 30 sets won in a row and was hoping for more against Fabio Fognini.
