Rafael Leão elected Man of the Match in Milan’s victory over Tottenham

“It was always dangerous when he took the ball and ran at the opposition,” explained the UEFA technical observers.

Rafael Leão returned to the starting line-up at AC Milan, did not score, but ended up being named Man of the Match by the UEFA technical observer panel in his team’s 1-0 triumph over Tottenham.

The Portuguese striker was substituted in added time, but that didn’t stop him from receiving the distinction, justified in this way by UEFA observers: “It was always dangerous when he took the ball and ran at the opponent.”

With the award in hand, Leão said: “I knew I had to attack the spaces; we worked on that during the week. It was a Champions League game and I wanted to enjoy it.”

The second leg of this clash between AC Milan and Tottenham, counting for the round of 16 of the Champions League, is scheduled for March 8, in London.
