Rafael Benitez Becomes New Everton Manager

Rafael Benitez officially become the new manager Everton. The Toffees formally announced the appointment of Benitez on Wednesday (30/6/2021).

Benitez has signed a three-year contract with Everton. The former Liverpool manager will start pre-season with the squad on July 5.

In a statement, Everton said the appointment of Benitez had gone through an intense and extensive recruitment process in the last three weeks. Everton also stated that they had conducted interviews with a number of candidates.

“Rafa impressed us greatly with his knowledge and experience, but above all, the passion and hunger he showed to join our club,” Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri told the club’s official website.

“We appointed Rafa because we believe he will bring success to our club and the Evertonians. Simply put, we have to compete at the top of the league and win trophies. Rafa is a proven champion mentality.”

After leaving Liverpool in 2010, Rafael Benitez has handled Inter Milan, Chelsea, Napoli, Real Madrid, Newcastle United and Dalian Professional. Throughout his career as a coach, Benitez has won LaLiga, FA Cup, Coppa Italia, Europa League and Champions League.

“I am delighted to join Everton. During this process, I have been very impressed with the ambition shown by the senior representatives at the club and their desire to bring success to this historic club,” said Benitez.

“I believe this is a club that will be successful. I am determined to play a big role in helping this great club achieve its ambitions,” said Rafael Benitez.
