Rafa Nadal is celebrating his anniversary. The Balearic, this September 24, celebrates 20 years since his name was seen for the first time in the ATP ranking.
It was all when the Spanish he was barely 15 years old. It happened in Seville, on the ATP Challenger Tour for which he received an invitation. There, from September 17 to 23, 2001, Nadal managed to beat Israel Matos in the first round.
It was by a double 6-4, and it was his first triumph as a professional. Thus he added 5 points in ATP before losing in the round of 16 against Stefano Galvani.
Thanks to those points he was seen in position 1002 a distant September 24, 2001.
The rest, as they say, is history. He already has 20 Grand Slam, the one with the most in tennis together with Roger Federer y Novak Djokovic, that are part of a total of 88 titles won.
Also, add already more than a thousand victories as a professional, and has led the ranking in which it debuted 20 years ago for 209 weeks.
In five years, 2008, 2010, 2013, 2017 and 2019 it ended as number 1 in the world of tennis.
