Already three clean sheets
At the start of the season, Angers’ strong point is undoubtedly its defense. The latter also has the 3rd best record in Ligue 2 during the year, with only three goals conceded. Before starting the fifth day, Sco has already made three clean sheets, against Annecy (0-0) and Paris FC (2-0), as well as Dunkirk (0-1).
Zinedine Ferhat towards his first match with Angers
Zinedine Ferhat, who notably spent time in Ligue 1 with Nîmes and in Turkey with Alanyaspor more recently, joined Anjou this summer, in the last hours of the transfer window. A big blow for Sco, which thus recovered an experienced player already experienced in Ligue 2. “I know this championship well. I don’t see it as a step backwards. I’m here to progress further”, he said during his introductory press conference. Ferhat has not yet played a single minute with his new club, and felt “mild muscle pain” the last days. But according to our colleagues from Ouest Francethe right winger would now be recovered and “apte” to play at Paul-Lignon.
Sco has never faced Rodez
Saturday’s match will mark the first clash between Ruthénois and Angevins in history. Until then, the two teams had avoided each other in the championship. When Rodez was in D2, in the 90s, Angers was there too… but in another group. When Raf reached the National in 2007, Sco left for Ligue 2! In short, we had to wait for the descent of the “white and black” last season, after a catastrophic L1 exercise, to see them opposed to the blood and gold on the field.
