RAF-977V, considered lost, returned to its homeland | news

The enthusiasts of the RAF Reunion community, preserving the heritage of the Riga Bus Factory (RAF), returned to their homeland a rare copy of the 977. The car was transported from South America.

This is reported on the page RAF Reunion в Facebook… Recall that at the beginning of 2020, the Chilean car sales website appeared announcement of the sale of RAF-977V… This model was produced by the company in Riga for only one year (1960-61) in the amount of about a thousand copies. It was believed that not a single 977B minibus survived to this day, so the announcement aroused great interest among connoisseurs of the brand.

Later on the network appeared new pictures of the car… According to the Chilean owner, the minibus previously belonged to a Swiss priest who brought it to Chile. During operation, the native engine from the 21st “Volga” gave way to the Chrysler engine, and the dashboard migrated from one of the Chevrolet models.
