Female lifter from Papua who has won three Olympic medals, Raema Lisa Rumbewasdie. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov) are in mourning.

“Indonesia has lost one of the nation’s best daughters. A sports person who was endlessly committed and made history for this country,” said Jokowi on his Instagram account.
Jokowi admitted that he remembers very well when Lisa brought Indonesia’s good name to a number of championships. Lisa made a proud achievement for Indonesia.
“Win medals at three different Olympics. Silver at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and 2004 Athens Olympics and bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Apart from three Olympic medals, Lisa Rumbewas also made Indonesia proud through various achievements in the world of weightlifting,” said Jokowi.
“Silver in the -53kg category at the 2006 World Weightlifting Championships in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. And bronze at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan in the -48kg class. Lisa was also able to collect medals in three different editions of the SEA Games. Bronze at the 2003 Hanoi SEA Games, silver at the 2005 SEA Games Manila, and gold at the 2009 SEA Games Vientiane,” wrote Jokowi.
Jokowi prays that Lisa will get the best place next to God Almighty. He also prayed that Lisa’s family would be given fortitude.
“I express my condolences for the passing of Lisa Rumbewas. May the late Lisa find a noble place in the sight of God Almighty. Prayers for strength and fortitude for the family left behind. May her service as a Sports Hero always be remembered, and inspire Indonesian Athletes,” said Jokowi.
KSP Calls Lisa an Athlete with World Level Achievements
The Chief Expert of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Theofransus Litaay remembered Lisa Rumbewas as an athlete who made achievements on the world stage.
“Personally, we are sorry and pray that the bereaved family will be given fortitude. Lisa Rumbewas is an outstanding athlete at world level, having participated in three Olympic Games since Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008,” said Theofransus in a written press statement, as reported by Antara.
Theofransus said that Lisa Rumbewas’ struggle and achievements were a source of inspiration and role model for young athletes, both in Papua and throughout Indonesia. Lisa, said Theofransus, will be the most beautiful memory of national sports.
Not only that, Theofransus said that Lisa Rumbewas’ presence at world level shows how rich the Papuan sports world is with various outstanding athletes. He said that Lisa’s father, Levi Rumbewas, was also a national bodybuilder athlete.
“Lisa’s father, Mr. Levi Rumbewas, is also a national athlete in the sport of bodybuilding who has achieved national and international achievements,” he said.
The Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Papua also expressed its deep condolences for the death of lifter Raema Lisa Rumbewas. Raema Lisa Rumbewas is a weightlifter born in Jayapura, 10 September 1980, who has made many achievements.
He won a silver medal in the 53 kg class at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, a silver medal at the SEA Games XXI/2001 in the 53 kg class, the 2004 Athens Olympics won a silver medal, and the 2008 Beijing Olympics won bronze with a total lift of 206 kilograms.
Lisa won the bronze medal after Belarusian lifter Nastassia Novikava, who finished third, was proven to have used doping.

“The death of this Papuan athlete has caused deep wounds because it is through this extraordinary talent that Indonesia, especially Papua, can be known internationally,” he said.
