Radzyń information A driver who was driving a car with “superior” license plates from another vehicle will have to plead his case in court. Moreover, he exceeded the speed limit.
On Saturday (April 6), the police stopped the driver of an Opel Insignia for a road check exceeded the speed limit in a built-up area.
– During the activities, the police had no objections to the driver’s sobriety, but they appeared during the vehicle inspection. It turned out that Opel had it installed license plates from another car. In turn, the car the 50-year-old was driving was not approved for traffic and did not have compulsory insurance – informs the deputy commissioner Piotr Mucha from the Police Headquarters in Radzyń Podlaski.
The case will now go to court.
– In a conversation with the police, a resident of the Kąkolewnica commune admitted that he had installed license plates from another car on his car because he wanted to “bring the Opel back from the mechanic after the repairs” – adds Assistant Commissioner Piotr Mucha. – It is highly probable that the 50-year-old thought that he won’t come across a police patrol, but he also hasn’t followed changes in the law.
Theft of license plates and transferring them from another vehicle is a crime. Before changes in the law, such acts were treated as misdemeanors, which meant fewer legal consequences.
