It is a serious question whether these flows of migrants – some of which we stop and some of which we let through – are not a system for letting in an agent hostile to the EU and NATO. This was stated by Prof. Nikolay Radulov, former Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the BNR.
According to him, the more important statistic is how many migrants managed to cross. He predicts that it is very possible for the safe transport of migrants to take place on the primary, secondary and tertiary republican road network, and that the buses caught on the Trakia highway will only be used as bait for the police.
“Experts familiar with the situation claim that the migrant groups are those who have been staying in the Turkish camps for some time. There are over 4 million migrants in them, a large number of them are from Afghanistan and they rather came there in the past summer and autumn, because now the mountain passes cannot be crossed. Due to the earthquake, funds are severely limited, and therefore they have decided that it is most reasonable to go to Western Europe”, said Radulov.
As a national security expert, he pointed out that youths who are weak and mentally unstable are great prey for all intelligence agencies. “Turkey has an old strategy for implementing the agency. Probably some of them are recruited. It is quite possible that the groups with which they moved from Afghanistan included representatives of Pakistani intelligence, which has serious interests in Western Europe, and was found to be using the migrant flow for infiltration,” explained Radulov.
He pointed out that in the location where our country is – an external border of the European Union, we must use all the opportunities available to us. Radulov recalled that the EU refused to give money for the fence along the border. The modern trend is to create a smart border – this is a signal system that consists of various types of sensors from drones and other equipment that allow early warning of groups coming to the Bulgarian border and notification of duty teams that are well prepared . To create a smart border, it is necessary to change the entire concept of border protection, explained the expert.
“The risk to Europe is tangible. There is a terrible tension in Germany, because migrants take care of both state and municipal funds, but thus reduce the money for benefits that Germans are used to. Separately, the social system is cluttered. Europe has matured to the idea of providing more concentrated aid,” added Nikolay Radulov.
