Radosław Piesiewicz responds to Sławomir Nitras. “I inform and explain”

ADD A COMMENT

Let us recall that Sławomir Nitras on Monday he published two letters in which he demanded from Radosław Piesiewicz and 44 sports associations to provide a list of all people who received accreditations for the Paris event. In addition, he also demanded details of the participation of presidents and board members of associations in delegations to the Olympics.

“I kindly ask you to treat the matter as a priority and forward the above information to the Ministry of Sport and Tourism by August 14, 2024,” he wrote. On Wednesday, he said he had already received many responses indicating that the presidents of the associations and their companions had used hotels that cost over 1,000 euros per night.

However, everything indicates that Nitras will not receive a response from the Polish Olympic Committee. Kamil Dziubka presented on Onet the letter that Piesiewicz sent to the Ministry of Sport.

“I would like to inform and explain that the Polish Olympic Committee will not provide you with such information. It is not the task of the Polish Olympic Committee to remind the Minister that the Minister responsible for physical culture and sports, as a government administration body, in accordance with the regulations of the Code of Administrative Procedure, should act in accordance with the provisions of the law. No provision of common law gives you, as a government administration body, the right to demand the presentation of the information indicated in your letter,” the statement emphasized.

Piesiewicz responded to Nitras’s call. “You know perfectly well”

The head of the Polish Olympic Committee also reminded Nitras that he did not perform a supervisory function in relation to the Polish Olympic Committee within the meaning of the provisions of the Act on Sports and added that he had not received any money from the state budget for the participation of Polish athletes in the Olympic Games in Paris.

“You know perfectly well that the Polish Olympic Committee did not receive a single zloty for the participation of Polish Olympians in the Olympic Games,” wrote Piesiewicz, noting that employees of his ministry had repeatedly informed that public funding could only apply to preparations for participation in the Olympic Games, not the participation in them themselves.

“The date of your stay at the Olympic Games, the address of your accommodation, the type of accreditation you received, as well as the dates of your stay in the Olympic Village cannot be the subject of your interest. Continuing this type of behaviour will have to be considered a gross violation of the law and an excess of your rights resulting from the provisions of the law,” the letter published on Onet’s website summed up.
