Radisson Blu Rīdzene Hotel is closed indefinitely

She explained that in response to the situation in the tourism industry, where the demand for hotel services has significantly decreased due to the pandemic caused by Covid-19, the owner of Radisson Blu Rīdzene Hotel – Norwegian company “Linstow” – will use this moment and perform in-depth technical research.

As Podkalne pointed out, the research will serve as a basis for further decisions on the need and scope of renovation, so that the hotel will continue to maintain its status and role in Riga’s tourism and conference business. Therefore, the owners have decided not to open the hotel at this time.

At the same time, the situation in the tourism market and the low demand for hotel and conference services, according to Podkalne, also means that “Radisson Blu” is forced to reduce the entire hotel – “Radisson Blu Latvia Conference and Spa Hotel”, “Radisson Blu Ridzene Hotel”, ” Radisson Blu Elizabete Hotel “- number of employees.

“We are currently actively working on a restructuring plan to adapt to the new situation. Of course, our goal is to take care of our employees and keep jobs as much as possible, but given that the flow of tourists will return very slowly and gradually, it is clear that we will not have necessary, “said Podkalne, adding that the future state policy to support the tourism sector is still unclear.

Asked when the hotel could resume work, she said it was not possible to set a specific date at the moment, but it was unlikely that it would happen this year.

“Firmas.lv” information shows that last year the hotel “Rīdzene” worked with a turnover of 2.259 million euros and a loss of 100,718 euros. The hotel was registered in May 1997 and has a share capital of EUR 3.6 million. The sole owner of the company is the Norwegian company Linstow.
