music The cream of the Flemish music world descended on Thursday evening to the Kursaal of Ostend for the 21st edition of the Radio2 Gallery of Honor. This year, singer Margriet Hermans and composer Steve Willaert were honored for their lives full of music. The two received a musical tribute on stage from some fellow artists, but there were also many famous people in the hall itself to encourage these two music icons.
In addition to a ‘Life full of Music’ for Margriet Hermans and Steve Willaert, three songs were also included in the Gallery of Honor: ‘Allemaal’ by Wim Soutaer, ‘I want to get lost in the streets this night’ by Wannes Van de Velde and ‘Wrong’ by Novastar.
Niels Destadsbader was the presenter. “The last time I was completely naked in the Kursaal Oostende to draw attention to male cancers, but I still feel more comfortable in my costume,” jokes the presenter, who appears sleek. “I pay attention to my diet, exercise a lot and haven’t been drinking beers for a while. I feel sharper than ever, both physically and mentally.”

Wim Soutaer went to Ostend together with his wife Kim. It has been exactly twenty years since he broke through to the general public after his participation in ‘Idool 2003’. His debut single ‘Allemaal’ now also has a place in Radio 2’s Hall of Fame.

Francisco Schuster and Aaron Blommaert felt honored that they could sing the song ‘All beautiful women are so ugly’ especially for Margriet, just like in #LikeMe. “Whether you are young or old: everyone knows Margriet. And we immediately sign up for such a career (laugh).”
