Anšlavs Eglītis is known both as an amazingly prolific painter and writer, he returned to the wider public consciousness with his novel The new man cinema adaptation in 2018.
Not an hour tells the story of a group of young people who, celebrating their friends becoming doctors, each survive their inner happiness, heartfelt and doubts during the festive night.
Cast: Meinards Liepiņš, Aksels Aizkalns, Rūdis Bīviņš, Krišjānis Strods and Sandis Runge – these future actors have already proved themselves in important roles in the performances of Dostoevsky Crime and punishment and Hamsun Victoria Valmiera Drama Theater.
“Have you ever wandered into the opening of a river at some point in your life and felt the temptation to find out what lies in its depths? Wanted to spring from the shore and hit the water like an arrow – cold like alcohol to feel the tiny air bubbles tingling brown-tanned skin?” have you taken a step and felt your heart pounding in your throat when a suspicious stranger is following in your footsteps? Perhaps you have stare with firm eyes in the folds of the curtains of the apartment, behind which you think – someone is standing. ”Are you stuck in bed feeling suddenly mistaken a person smiles at another? ” The feelings of the characters are described by director Zane Daudiņa.
The musical accompaniment was created by composer Jēkabs Nimmanis, who has composed compositions for dozens of theater performances and films. Received two for his work Gamblers Night awards, The Great Kristaps for the best film music in 2014, AKKA / LAA Author’s Award for Music for the Latvian National Theater Rainis dreams and many others. For the needs of the radio show, he has created a contemporary version of a well-known Latvian song It was a long time ago at the Venta during flowering.
