The training station of the FHWien der WKW – previously known as Radio NJOY – is reinventing itself, but remains true to its line and offers crisp food for discerning ears.
Vienna (OTS) – Just in time for the start of spring, there is a spirit of optimism at FHWien: On March 1, 2021, the in-house radio station, previously called Radio NJOY, started under the new name Radio Radieschen. The name fits the fresh and crisp approach with which the editorial team tackles a colorful mix of topics together with journalism students – from science and business to art and music. Diversity of opinion and topics as well as quality are central factors in the program design.
Ideal learning environment for journalism students
Radio Radieschen enables prospective journalists to grow in their skills – this is also what the name stands for. “With our training channel, we offer our students an ideal learning environment,” emphasizes FH-Prof. Mag.a Dr.in Daniela Süssenbacher, Head of Journalism & Media Management Study Programs at FHWien der WKW. “There they learn under real conditions how radio production works and which tasks have to be mastered. They are guided and instructed by teachers who have a background in journalism, ”continues Süssenbacher.
Two state-of-the-art broadcasting studios for radio radishes
The team from Radio Radieschen and the students of the FHWien der WKW have two broadcast studios, an editorial office and ten workstations at their disposal. These were only brought up to date with the latest technology in 2019 when the radio and TV area of the university of applied sciences was rebuilt. Students, teachers and employees will now find optimal conditions for the training company.
Basis for steep careers in journalism
“Every university is measured by how successful its graduates are in the job market. The FHWien der WKW therefore optimally prepares its students for the job. This also applies to our Journalism & Media Management study area, ”explains Ing. Mag. (FH) Michael Heritsch, MSc, CEO of FHWien der WKW. Radio Radieschen as a training station play an important role in this. “The practical training lays the foundation for the steep careers of many graduates of our Journalism & Media Management study area,” adds Heritsch.
The only training station in Vienna
Radio Radieschen is the only training station in Vienna with a terrestrial frequency. It can be heard in the federal capital on 91.3. Radio Radieschen can also be received in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland via the digital terrestrial radio standard DAB +. The advertising-free music program under the motto “Alternative Hits” offers many new music titles, but also a varied spectrum of well-known titles. Radio Radieschen pays special attention to Austrian artists who present their music in various series and whose works can also be heard elsewhere in the program.
Radio Radieschen broadcasts to listen to
Many programs by students at FHWien der WKW, but also by the editorial team, are on the Radio Radieschen website at radio-radieschen.at as well as on platforms such as Spotify, iTunes, SoundCloud and Podcaster.de.
