Van Zijtveld began his career in the early sixties as a DJ on the radio ship of radio Veronica. Later he worked for broadcaster AVRO for forty years, where he was one of the voices of the program Arbeidsvitaminen.
For Veronica, Van Zijtveld made programs such as Ook Goeiemorgen and the Seven O’Clock Show. At the channel, Van Zijtveld was given the nickname Flip from the flipside, because he had a penchant for playing the B-side of singles.
In the mid-sixties, Van Zijtveld switched to public broadcasting. For AVRO, he made programs for the then Hilversum 3 and Hilversum 1 until the eighties. Van Zijtveld also made jingles, of which “Cees van Zijtveld, Cees van WIEveld?” was one of the best known. Van Zijtveld could later also be heard on NPO Radio 2 and Radio 5.
Van Zijtveld was also active as a voice-over. He lent his voice to the TV program AVRO’s Toppop. He was also the channel voice of AVRO on television for a long time. In 2006 he said goodbye to AVRO to retire. As a voice actor, Van Zijtveld could be heard as the character Daan in the series David de Kabouter.
The Van Zijtveld family has announced that the funeral will take place in private.
