Radio Monaco Takes New York: Celebrating Bastille Day and Connecting Cultures

Radio Monaco will treat itself to an American parenthesis from Tuesday 11 to Friday 14 July.

From New York, the only Monegasque radio will notably celebrate Bastille Day, alongside the Committee of French and French-speaking Associations of New York and the Consulate General of France in New York.

For the last four issues of the season, the program “How Are Riou” will offer a change of scenery to Radio Monaco listeners. Maxime Riou, Océane and Nathalie Michet will perform their radio show from New York from Tuesday July 11 to Friday July 14 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The New York excursion will culminate on Bastille Day. Radio Monaco will go behind the scenes of this festival to be held in Central Park. Organized by the Consulate General of France in New York and the Committee of French and French-speaking Associations of New York, this event will bring together 6,000 people who will come to applaud, among others, the French singer Adèle Castillon and the French DJ Joachim Garraud.

With this relocation, Radio Monaco – which has been offering the Radio Monaco Made In New York program digitally for three years – is consolidating the intercultural bridge it has built between the French speakers of the Big Apple and the Principality. On a daily basis for three seasons, the antennas of Radio Monaco and Radio Monaco Made In New York have taken listeners to discover the city through the prism of the Francophonie.

In this particular week, Maxime Riou, Océane and Nathalie Michet will meet their New York listeners in the places that the community has adopted; a different way of bringing Monaco – and generally French-speakers around the world – closer to the city that never sleeps.

To be followed on Radio Monaco’s social networks, on the app and on the website.
