Radio Hamburg broadcasts the Russian consulate in Ukraine colors

As a sign of protest against the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine, Radio Hamburg showed its colors on Tuesday: the well-known Hamburg radio station beamed at the Russian Consulate General in the Hanseatic city in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.

According to the motto “Shame On You, Putin!”

For this purpose, several large projectors were set up in front of the building along Herbert-Weichmann-Straße on Uhlenhorst and beamed onto the facade.

This resulted in an image of the Ukrainian flag with a white dove of peace in the middle on the left side of the four-storey building. Ten minutes later, the Ukrainian national anthem was still playing over loudspeakers installed on the roof of a building opposite.

At 8 p.m., the Radio Hamburg team switched off the projector and music on their own initiative. The activists then received instructions from Hamburg police officers that this action was not permitted.

“With this spontaneous action, we want to set a clear exclamation point against the senseless and brutal war that Russian President Vladimir Putin is waging against Ukraine,” says Marzel Becker, Managing Director and Program Director of Radio Hamburg. “Radio Hamburg says ‘Shame on you, Putin!'”
