Radev: With GERB, we will specify the delivery of the mandate, I expect it to be on April 27 – 2024-08-26 15:52:48

/ world today news/ Today are the consultations with BSP and GERB. During them, with the PG of the GERB party, we will specify exactly when the mandate will be handed over. I expect this to happen on April 27th – Thursday.

This was stated by President Rumen Radev.

The president answered affirmatively to the question of whether the new government will be able to count on his support. He noted that he has already stated that for all constructive proposals, ideas and programs of the new government, it can count on his support. When asked if he expects it to serve a 4-year term, Radev replied: “I hope so, but as I have already said, it depends exclusively on the work of the government, and of course it also depends on the organization of work in the Bulgarian parliament.”

Commenting on a statement from the morning of the ambassador of Turkey, Rumen Radev stated that Bulgaria is not looking for problems with Turkey in any case. “On the contrary, I have repeatedly stated that the Bulgarian state leadership is doing everything possible to develop good neighborly relations with the Republic of Turkey. Good neighborliness is based on important principles and these are: equality, non-interference in other people’s affairs, mutual respect. Let’s proceed from these principles,” the president said. He pointed out that Bulgaria is not the country that, for example, in the face of the Bulgarian state leadership, gives advice in Turkey on how and for whom to vote. “The Bulgarian president would never allow himself to make comments about lessons in democracy. This happened in the case in which the Turkish president took the liberty of commenting on the state of democracy and human rights in Bulgaria. So – yes, we will want to develop these relations in a spirit of good neighborliness, cooperation, but we will not allow any influence on our internal affairs. This should be categorically clear,” said the Bulgarian head of state.

As for clarifying the facts surrounding the fence along the border with Turkey, according to Radev, this is a commitment of experts. “And we’re really going to give the experts an opportunity to evaluate all the facts around the fence so there’s no doubt about how our money was spent.” Parliament here can also help,” he stated. Rumen Radev stressed that the president is not an institution that carries out checks. He confirmed that he initiated the collection of information, however. “And we will already discuss in what way, in what format this information will be properly verified,” pointed out Radev.

Asked if he expects the chief prosecutor to publicly explain about last week’s meeting, Radev stressed that the president cannot be the arbiter in a situation where even the facts are contradictory. He confirmed that he has a letter from the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Union of Publishers in Bulgaria dated April 5. “This letter requests a meeting with me due to a disturbing provocation to an independent media publisher. Point. There are no coffees, no meeting, no names,” said the head of state and added that if he wished, he would provide the media with the letter.
