/ world today news/ The actions of the caretaker government in relation to the drinking water problem in Haskovo are adequate and timely. This was stated by President Rumen Radev after his meeting with the regional governor of the Haskovo region, Minko Angelov, and with the mayor of the city, Dobri Belivanov.
“The problem has been known since September of last year, and we only now understand. The information is hidden,” the head of state emphasized. According to him, the situation is reminiscent of the Chernobyl syndrome. Officials and responsible institutions have put people’s lives and health at potential risk, the press office of the head of state announced.
The local authority, with the support of the state, is making maximum efforts to solve the problem. The regional governor and the mayor of Haskovo have assured the president that alternative water sources are being sought to guarantee people’s health. It is everyone’s hope that there will be no water regime in the city.
Asked to comment on the work of the interim government, the head of state gave high praise for the organization and conduct of open, fair and just elections, as well as the work on the preparation of the presidency of the EU Council, which is moving according to schedule.
“Consultations with the parliamentary parties start next week. The meetings with the United Patriots, DPS and Volya are on Monday,” President Rumen Radev announced.
In response to a journalist’s question whether the deadline for the construction of the fence along our border with Turkey will be met, the head of state said that hard work is being done to complete the construction. “There are a number of disturbing facts about the contracts, according to which a double-row fence is financed, but a single-row fence is built. I will insist that the truth be clarified”, Rumen Radev was categorical.
