Bansko celebrates the work of St. Paisius of Hilendar. The head of state Rumen Radev took part in the culmination of the celebrations on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of his birth and the 260th anniversary of the writing of “Slavo-Bulgarian History”, BNT reports.
“Slavo-Bulgarian History” opened the horizon to our spiritual awakening. We do not know much about the life of Paisius – he dedicated himself to God and the Fatherland, despised personal adversity and did not seek earthly glory. There was another mission – in the darkest times of our people – of oppression, forgetfulness and hopelessness, to ignite the spark and bring the Bulgarian people out of timelessness and inaction. This outline of his did not just elevate the Revival spirit and ideal.
In the pages of his history, the Bulgarian rediscovered the geographical borders of his homeland – from the Danube to Thrace and Macedonia.
Paisius’ spiritual work paved the way for the struggle for national liberation. Even today, “Slavo-Bulgarian History” is alive, remembered and will be remembered, although it is not the first written document on Bulgarian history.
This story is written with passion and love for the Fatherland and hatred for apostasy and foreign worship, which Father Paisius angrily presents as the greatest sin.
In honor of Paisius, we pay tribute to the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, which in the darkest times of our history has preserved not only our faith but also our memory, language, writing and national identity.
A tribute to the work of Paisii Hilendarski!
Long live Bulgaria! “, Said the President in his speech.
The official ceremony with which we honor the work of St. Paisii Hilendarski is held on the central square “Vazrazhdane” in the city.
