Radev put us in a movie. The photo scandal is growing – 2024-09-17 06:41:47

The international scandal in which Radev embroiled Bulgaria is growing. Skopje demanded an apology for the photo of the president with his Macedonian colleague Gordana Siljanovska – Davkova. The reason – behind the backs of the two were only the Bulgarian and European flags, the Macedonian flag was missing.

The foreign ministry of the neighbors summoned our ambassador to North Macedonia, Zhelyazko Radukov, to hand him a protest note, which he refused to accept.

We remind you that on Friday Radev ignored the tragedy at the “Graf Ignativo” airport, in which two of our best fighter pilots died, and went to take a picture with Davkova, who is known for her anti-Bulgarian positions. She was on an unofficial visit to us – she went to the opera.

Bulgaria should apologize to North Macedonia, demanded the foreign minister of our neighbor Timcho Mutsunski.

The idea of a meeting between the two presidents of Bulgaria and North Macedonia, during Gordana Siljanovska’s visit to Sofia, is on the Bulgarian side, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Timcho Mutsunski, in an interview for MRT1.

If the other party approaches in good faith, as we do, then it is only natural that they apologize after such a protocol error. To say that it was a mistake and that there was no form of insult or humiliation,” he stated.

Macedonia makes a problem out of something small. Both the president and the government got off to a rough start. It is not mandatory to put up their flag during an unofficial visit, former foreign minister Ivaylo Kalfin commented on bTV and added: “Bulgaria has nothing to apologize to North Macedonia.”

Bulgaria has an agreement with its neighbor, we are in a good position, Kalfin also said. According to him, it is a fact that there is tension between Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia. It is important for Bulgaria to have good relations with its neighbors, but in the Balkans, national themes are used to make an election campaign, he also commented.

“Nothing was missing because there was no official visit and the protocol for such meetings does not require it. With such visits, it is not even necessary that they take place in the presidency”, commented the journalist Lyubcho Neshkov in the Euronews Primetime studio.

“They could have met in the opera house or in the cafe of the Archaeological Museum. After all, Bulgaria demonstrated respect and friendship and the meeting took place in the presidency”, added Neshkov.
