/ world today news/ It will be easier for the rulers in their policy and decisions towards the Republic of North Macedonia, the more closely they adhere to the official Bulgarian position, expressed in the documents adopted by the National Assembly, as well as by the last CSNS, the more -they deeply listen to the voice of the Bulgarians in our country and in the RSM, the more responsibly we behave as a member of the EU and adhere to the principles and values of the union. President Rumen Radev said this to journalists today.
We must first hear the Prime Minister answer the questions about whether there is progress on the part of the Republic of North Macedonia in implementing our good-neighborly agreement, whether there is a change in the positions of our European partners and European institutions, said the head of state in response to a question about whether convened a meeting of the National Security Advisory Council (NSAC) dedicated to the European integration of the RSM.
“The CSNS is a body for supporting dialogue and seeking a common solution in the name of important national goals. If a broad national consensus is sought regarding the RSM, then it not only exists, but is also strongly expressed in our society, and the rulers should be aware of it,” said the head of state. Rumen Radev added that if the dialogue in the governing coalition itself is broken, then the reasons for this must also be clearly stated. “Bulgaria needs stability, but also transparency and principles in governance,” the president stressed.
The head of state indicated that, as before, in relations with North Macedonia, he will continue to do what is best for Bulgaria – to defend our history and culture, as well as for Bulgaria to protect the rights of the Macedonian Bulgarians, and as a responsible member of the EU to have a clear concern and commitments to the long-term stability of the union. “At the same time, we will continue to work so that our brothers in the Republic of North Macedonia receive guarantees for a sustainable and irreversible process of integration, to free themselves more quickly from the ideological shackles of the totalitarian Yugoslav past,” said Rumen Radev. In his words, the politicians in the RSM must finally take the bold step that would open the prospect of EU membership.
“Neither the integration of the RSM, nor the air sovereignty of Bulgaria can be subject to agreements, there is no bargaining for human rights”. This was stated by the president in response to a question as to whether France’s willingness to support Bulgaria, so that the Air Force of our country does not lose its defense capabilities, is related to the European perspective of the RSM. “I can congratulate President Macron for his vision and courage to seek an adequate solution to find a way out of this situation and to uphold truth and justice,” added the Bulgarian head of state.
