A press release on the IC website dated today specifies that “the decision was taken in absentia”. The cabinet of the ruling right has adopted a decision to approve and sign the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada and the EU. A press release on the IC website dated today specifies that “the decision was taken in absentia”.
Thus, without studying the potential effects of SETA on Bulgaria and without informing the Bulgarian society what it is signing, the Borisov cabinet gives its consent to an agreement that poses huge risks for the consumer, labor and civil rights of Bulgarians, for Bulgarian business and for Bulgarian democracy.
In the event that the contract is signed, I declare that I will appeal to the Supreme Court. I do not rule out the possibility that CETA’s ratification will be subject to a national referendum, given the comprehensive nature of the treaty, which has sparked active civil protests across Europe and has been blocked by two Belgian regions: Wallonia and Brussels-Capital.
