It is the responsibility of you and the partner parties in the coalition to reform the vicious model of power inherited from 12 years of authoritarian rule, to tackle corruption and lawlessness, the inequalities and injustices they cause, to throw the state behind the scenes.
This was stated by President Rumen Radev at the presentation of the mandate to form a government to Kiril Petkov, who was nominated for prime minister by the first political force in parliament – “We continue the change”. Petkov returned to him directly a folder with the names of the future ministers and promised not to waste a moment. We hope that this government will be a reality on Monday and will be so for the next 4 years, he added.
Together with Petkov on “Dondukov” 2 came the head of the parliamentary group of “We continue the change” Andrey Gyurov and the nominees for Deputy Prime Ministers Asen Vassilev and Kalina Konstantinova.

As a minister, you have already seen how strong the deep state is, which defends the privileges and impunity of the corrupt. In these efforts, your main resource will be the support of the people, said President Petkov.

I believe that you realize that if you do not achieve decisive remedial changes in the prosecution and the judiciary in the first 100 days. There is no way for the coalition to win the future for Bulgaria. The rule of law is the biggest battle on which everyone else depends, and I believe that you will find the strength to do so. Because the voice from the square and the ballot boxes wants legitimacy and it is up to your ministers not to disappoint them, Radev added.

The fight against poverty and the defense of Bulgaria’s national interests abroad are the other challenges that the president has outlined for the new prime minister.

You started the change of the square months ago, now is the time to finish the work together. It is time after 32 years for the Bulgarian people to feel that the rulers care for him, Petkov said. It is time for our young Bulgarians abroad to see Bulgaria as a promising location and place to return, and our mothers and fathers – as a place for a fair pension and old age. We will make every effort to make these promises and hopes a reality, the future prime minister added.
From 1 pm today in the building of the National Assembly he will officially present to the media the composition of the new Council of Ministers.
