But there were two important conditions – a reform of the justice system and, in particular, the accountability of the chief prosecutor, as well as specifying an exact date for stopping coal in the energy sector. “We need to take these funds from Europe, but we need a serious debate and consensus,” said Radev.
Regarding the rescue operation of the stranded ship off Kamen Bryag, the president said it illustrated a picture of decades of incompetence in maritime rescue. “While they were busy privatizing the fleet, concessioning ports – here is the result,” the head of state pointed out. According to him, the technique for saving the ship is absolutely crap. “No organization. The Bulgarian state cannot take this ship on board, it has maritime rights. We are not a pirate country,” Radev pointed out. According to him, the Minister of Transport intervened energetically by creating the necessary organization. Fuel had already been transferred from the stranded ship.
“But first of all, it is important not to allow the loss of human life. That is why the Ministry of Transport, the Navy and the Air Force are engaged in case they have to rescue the crew”, added Radev.
