Radeon RX 6800 XT Review – Inleiding

Anyone in the market for a new high-end video card has had the Radeon RX 6800 XT as an option since November 18. This model from AMD is built around the new RDNA 2 architecture of the manufacturer and in terms of performance, on average, can compete well with the GeForce RTX 3080 from Nvidia.

In our review we came to the conclusion that the RX 6800 XT at 1440p resolution is slightly faster than its direct competitor from the green camp, while this GeForce is slightly faster at 4k. For those who do not need the very best ray tracing performance, and who value the energy consumption and the remarkably high performance at lower resolutions, the Radeon RX 6800 XT is an interesting candidate.

Anyone who is convinced of the new generation of Radeons and immediately runs to the (digital) store will come home from a rude awakening. The limited availability of hardware at the end of 2020 has continued to date, with the video card market being hit particularly hard. Anyone who is after a video card must search well and have patience. The same applies to the Radeon RX 6800 series as it does to the Nvidia offering.

Yet it is certainly not impossible to get hold of such a graphic sample in 2021. That makes the question of which one to choose exactly, even more relevant. In this article, we’ll let two Radeon RX 6800 XT video cards battle it out: the Sapphire Nitro and the Gigabyte Gaming OC.
