What is the point? The mining performance of conventional graphics cards depends mainly on two aspects. Arithmetic power (number of FP32 units × frequency) and data throughput of the memory bus (width × effective clock). In the first, the Radeon RX 6700 XT improves compared to the Radeon RX 5700 XT (the number of stream processors remains at 2560, but the frequency increases significantly), but in the second it deteriorates significantly. For Radeon RX 6000s, AMD does not address data throughput only by bus width and memory frequency, but by implementing Infinity Cache. The kernel-level cache helps eliminate> 50% of memory transfers in the graphics load, reducing bus requirements and memory clock – but not beneficial in mining. For cryptobarons, it is essential that the Radeon RX 6700 XT has a 192bit bus, ie narrower than 256bit on the Radeon RX 5700 XT.
Thus, although the Radeon RX 6700 XT is expected to play at least a third above the Radeon RX 5700 XT, the older model will be at least a quarter faster in mining (and at a lower price due to lower memory capacity and significantly more advantageous).
A direct competitor, the GeForce RTX 3070, reaches 61.8 MH / s, making it a far more advantageous product for mining (almost half the output per card). Under normal circumstances, this would make the Radeon RX 6700 XT completely uninteresting for miners, which would stand somewhere at the bottom of the ranking of the most advantageous crypto-combines from the entire current offer. However, with the current product vacuum, these parameters cannot be expected to protect the card from rapid redemption.
The Radeon RX 6700 XT will be released this Thursday. Different sources give different reports on the number of non-reference cards delivered for issue to Europe, but given the credible reports of 1-2 thousand cards for the UK, it can be expected that the data on high units will be the thousand to 1x thousand for the whole of Europe. .
