Radeon RX 6600 XT is delayed, it will not be released until about August

The January slide announcing products for the first half of 2021 shows a laptop (mobile Radeons RX 6000 were released and can be purchased), Radeon RX 6700 XT (which was also released and which is available from about 20 thousand) and a one-fan desktop card, which AMD has not issued by the end of the semester.

This card is, of course, the Radeon RX 6600 XT, and although you can guess why the desktop version slipped (the first batch of chips probably ended up at Tesla, which got a GPU Navi 23 selected as the GPU for its new cars), this does not change the fact that after quite a long time, AMD managed not to adhere to the timetable it had set itself.

So much for criticism, now news: According to several sources with variable quality “forecasts”, the release date of the desktop Radeon RX 6600 XT has been set for August. AMD does not plan to sell the Radeon RX 6600 XT in the reference version at retail, which means, among other things, that it will not be possible to buy the card directly from AMD (unlike the Radeon RX 6700 XT, RX 6800, RX 6800 XT and RX 6900 XT). Non-reference versions will be available in classic retail sales.

The Radeon RX 6600 XT is expected to function as a performance replacement for the Radeon RX 5700 XT (performance replacement = card with similar performance). Some sources say the expected price is around $ 399 (with a question mark), which is the same amount as the reference version of the Radeon RX 5700 XT. If this price is confirmed, it will mean that price, performance and memory capacity remain unchanged and the Radeon RX 6600 XT will offer lower power consumption, support for newer video formats and support for the latest revision of DirectX12. However, this is an unofficial figure that may change.
