Radeon RX 6600 XT: graphics promised to miners?

As is well known, the value of cryptocurrencies is increasing, and in this case we are particularly interested in Ethereum, which is around $ 3,200, which of course increases the motivation to mine, as shown available data. NVIDIA responded to the interest of miners by launching mining accelerators and modifying GeForce to an LHR version with about half the hashrate in Etherea mining. –

AMD, on the other hand, did nothing at all, because according to its representatives, the RX 6600 is less suitable for mining, mainly due to its narrow buses and lower throughput of the main memory, which in the case of games catches up with Infinity Cache. This is certainly true, but with the advent of the GeForce LHR, this “advantage” essentially falls, and then such a Radeon RX 6600 XT can be very interesting for miners.

As for the availability of the Radeon RX 6600 XT on our market, it is basically impossible to talk about it, and if there were any stocks, then they disappeared very quickly, despite the fact that traders report prices from about 13 thousand crowns with VAT. With the gnashing of teeth, this cannot even be described as a downright bad price, because under normal circumstances we would expect prices somewhere below ten thousand, so we can’t talk about twice as much. After all, such GeForce RTX 3060s have a significantly lower recommended price, while the real one is definitely well above 13,000. Unlike the RX 6600 XT, however, the 3060 are available, in a way.

But what about the Radeon RX 6600 XT and mining? Of course, the performance of this card in Etherea mining is not amazing, as expected, but in general, it is mainly about efficiency and purchase price. Prices could just be lower, as we have already mentioned, which is a good start, but of course the question is how they will develop.

Performance of the untuned RX 6600 XT (more specifically ASRock RX 6600 XT Phantom Gaming OC) is around 28 MH / s (Ethash) and with a little usual tuning it is easy to get to 32 MH / s. This is roughly at the level of cards with a Polaris 10 chip (RX 580/570), so it’s really not a champion. But that efficiency. –

While cards with Polaris 10 can achieve a given power consumption over 130 W, RX 6600 XT can do it up to 75 W, which is about 425 kH / W and this is a very good value, which in many cases we can not achieve even with the original RTX 3000, let alone with the new LHRs.

The Radeon RX 6600 XT also certainly did not come on the market in as many numbers as might have been hoped. For example, a store Micro Center he had only about 2,000 pieces available for his 25 stores scattered throughout the USA, and of course the scalpers also focused on them. However, something else is reported by the British server Overclock3Dwhich talks about availability at recommended prices and the end of scalping. The situation on our market is currently changing, so whoever is interested in the RX 6600 XT and is willing to pay up to around 15 thousand crowns, can continuously monitor the offer of sellers to see if any will appear in stock. Alternatively, we can of course order the card.
