Smoleňák was no longer suitable for the playing style of the East Bohemians, but he is still playing in Kladno. He scored four goals in five games and immediately had a positive effect on his teammates. This is also evidenced by the fact that when Plekanec was injured, the 36-year-old student received the captain’s badge on his chest.
Smoleňák have an amazing shooting efficiency so far. In all game situations, he shot nine times on goal and managed to score four of those, resulting in a success rate of almost 45 percent. In the long term, it is unsustainable, but so far Smoleňák fulfills exactly what Kladno lacked. The Knights had problems with scoring goals at the beginning of the season, the players themselves said that they needed to score more “dirty” goals. That is, a goal that the 36-year-old striker is an expert at.

Of the nine shots on goal that Smoleňák recorded, six of them went from the slot. He scored all four shots from the area in front of the goal. In addition, Kladno’s newest signing also has a decent influence on Kladno’s play at the back. The Knights don’t cash in much with him on the ice. In addition, Smoleňák is one of the attackers with the most blocked shots in the entire extra league.
However, the Knights could not replace the absence of Plekanec with only Smoleňák. Jaromír Pytlík is having a very good season so far, who in previous seasons often filled out his own medical record. This season, he has already scored five points, which, by the way, is his season high in the extra league.

The arrival of Denis Kusé, a student from Pardubice, who is playing in the extra league after three years, looks great. Due to the punishment he carried over from Finland, he could not jump into the first five games. Since then, however, he has been starting and, according to analytical data, he belongs to the best players ever. The Knights are dominant on the ice with him. In five-on-five play, Kusý has an expected goals-against ratio of 59.9 percent and is better than 88 percent of all extra-league forwards.
Kusý has five points in six games. For example, he decided the last Kladno match on the ice of Karlovy Vary. He does above standard with the puck on his stick, there are only five better players in the entire competition in controlled entries into the zone. Kusý also creates 11.5 shooting positions for his teammates per 60 minutes of play and is among the top 20 in the league.
So far, the Knights are able to solve Plekanec’s loss with the performances of players from lower formations. Jakub Klepiš has so far filled the place of the first center after the Kladno legend, and in this difficult role, the experienced striker is not doing badly, although even with him, the first formation of Kladno is rather overplayed. But this is nothing unusual for the Knights.
