Dolejš was born on April 9, 1964, and graduated from the Faculty of Arts at Charles University, majoring in Czech and history. He also studied at the Jaroslav Ježek People’s Conservatory. Since September 2017, he has been teaching History and Modern Popular Music at the Prague Conservatory. Dolejš is the author and co-author of several books, especially in connection with Jan Werich and Jiří Voskovec.

From 1998 to 2009 he worked as a playwright, screenwriter and director of mainly entertainment programs on TV Nova, from 2003 to 2007 on TV Prima and from 2002 to the present on Czech Television, where he was also for some time executive director on ČT1. For example, he wrote screenplays for annual concerts or the announcement of various surveys.

According to the iDnes server, Dolejš suffered from long-term health problems. Last year, he was in a coma after leg surgery in which he had sepsis.
