Racist, homophobic or sexist messages have been common in the popular first-person shooter “Team Fortress 2 “. Behind it are bots that according to Engagdet appear in almost every game.
The bots have become unbearable for the players: “They use Aimbots and spam the chat with content that is racist, homophobic, pornographic – including child pornography – and generally offensive”, quoted Engadget a player.
Players excluded
Some of the bots might even Copy names and avatars of users, which excludes numerous players from the games. Many would have sent multiple requests to the Steam support team to solve the annoying problem. In response, however, automated replies came with the instruction to post on the Steam forums and report the individual accounts.
But these attempts remained largely successful. Many Valve did not respond to posts – the software company does not appear to be particularly alarmed. On request from Engadget A Valve spokesman said only that the company is aware of the problems and is actively looking for solutions.
