Journalist Antonio Maestre analyses the behaviour of the PP in Al Rojo Vivo after the xenophobic message that Xavier García Albiol, mayor of Badalona, published on his social networks. Almost a day later, far from rectifying, Albiol continued to justify it live on Al Rojo Vivo; and for the moment, no one from the PP has publicly refuted his words.
“Xavier García Albiol is someone within the PP because all the leaders in the party have considered that his discourse suits them, therefore, racism suits them,” says Maestre. “Because García Albiol is racist in essence. And he is not one since yesterday,” adds the journalist, recalling some acts and speeches that the mayor of Badalona has made throughout his political life.
For example, Maestre points out a video that Albiol published in 2007, called “7 minutes” and that he encourages everyone to watch, “to see if Alvise could not put that video on the channel today.” “A terrible video,” he says, adding other examples of racist messages and speeches that the mayor has made over the years.
“What do we need to call Albiol a racist? What do we need for someone from the PP to say that it is unacceptable for someone like Albiol to be in their party?” asks Maestre. In the video, we can see his entire speech.
