Althea Bernstein is still shocked by the events but thanks Heaven for being alive. This young woman of 18 years was the victim, Tuesday evening, of a racist and purely gratuitous aggression on behalf of four white men in the city of Madison, in Wisconsin (United States).
The teenager was driving her car, window open and stopped at a red light shortly after midnight. It was then that the four men arrived and one of them sprayed a flammable liquid on his face and neck before launching a lighted lighter. Althea caught fire but was quickly able to put out the flames and returned home.
She went to the hospital after repeated requests from her mom. She has been treated for burns and requires additional medical care.
The incident occurred hours after protests but police have yet to speak of a connection between the protesters and the Althea attack.
