Dresden – The Austrian cabaret artist Lisa Eckhart To call (27) controversial is an understatement. She is openly hostile, and critics accuse her of anti-Semitism and racism.

A performance by Eckhart at a literature festival in Hamburg has now been canceled because one is apparently afraid of rioting. In Dresden, on August 20 in the Junge Garde, the cabaret artist is still set. The organizers are determined to hold the performance.
Eckhart was unloaded from the “Harbor Front Literature Festival”, reports Spiegel Online: “As part of the Hamburg competition, she should have read on September 14 in the club ‘Nochtspeicher’ not far from Hafenstrasse,” it says.
The online magazine quotes from internal mail correspondence from the festival management and club management. Accordingly, the “Nochtspeicher” sees itself unable to guarantee the “safety of the visitors and the artist”. One heard from the neighborhood in the left hip district that “the protest is already forming”.
If police protection were necessary for the event, the situation could “even escalate and even lead to street skirmishes”.
Although the situation in Dresden is different than in Hamburg, insofar as the social protest comes more from the right than from the left, protests against the cabaret artist cannot be ruled out in Dresden either. However, their appearance with the program “The Advantages of Vice” in the open-air theater Junge Garde is apparently not endangered.

“I can say that very clearly: The event will take place,” said Katina Haubold from the organizer Die Agentour TAG24.
