“Racing a French Classic: The Citroën 2CV ‘Duckar’ Takes on the Dakar Rally”

Can a car created as the cheapest possible transporter for the French countryside compete in the toughest rally in the world? Barbora Holická thinks so, and is going to participate in the Dakar in the Classic class next year under the name “Duckar”, created by combining the words “duck”, i.e. “duck”, and “Dakar”.

She is no rookie, she won a number of victories in domestic cups, and in 2018 she even won the Eliška Junková Award for the best woman in Czech motorsport. And for a long time, he drives Citroëns.

“When I want to take on the biggest challenge of my racing career, it has to be a Citroën and what else but a 2CV. We want to prove that even the extremely demanding terrain of the Dakar tracks can be handled with this iconic car,” says the thirty-six-year-old racer.

“If it can drive 60 on a plowed field, it can also handle the Dakar tracks,” he adds about the car, which became famous not only in French pop culture, but also for its capabilities and commercial success, as well as roles in a number of French comedies. In the past, “ducks” started at the Dakar – until 1986, still on the original African track.

For participation, she chose a piece from 1979, which of course will not be in serial condition for the race. “We want to preserve its face and exceptional technological functionality. We will only modify it so that it can handle the Dakar,” says specialist Tomáš Neruda, who is working on the necessary modifications, about the car.
