Daughter of Soekarno and sister of Megawati Soekarnoputri, Rachmawati Soekarnoputri, died on Saturday (3/7/2021) after being tested positive COVID-19 and was treated at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, Central Jakarta.
“He has passed away to God Almighty, Mrs. Hj Rachmawati Soekarnoputri. This morning at 06.20 WIB at the Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital,” said PDIP DPP chairman Bambang Wuryanto.
Previously, Deputy Head of the RSPAD Brigadier General Dr. A Budi Sulistya said that Rachmawati had been undergoing treatment at the RSPAD since 26 June. Since the beginning of treatment, he has been assisted with high pressure oxygen.
“Initially, high pressure oxygen was used. Of course, medical measures were adjusted to his condition,” Budi told detikcom, Saturday (3/7/2021).
“So he was treated from June 26, 2021, until his death,” he added.
History of Rachmawati Soekarnoputri’s disease
Rachmawati is known to have a number of comorbidities which made his condition worse when he was infected with the Corona virus. The following is a summary of his health condition.
1. High blood
In 2016, Rachmawati Soekarnoputri was once stumbled upon a case of alleged treason. However, Sunan Kalijaga as his lawyer at that time requested that the examination be postponed. Apparently, he is known to experience a decline in health due to hypertension or high blood pressure.
“Mrs. Rachmawati has a history of strokes several times, high blood pressure. After receiving the Biddokes information, she is not healthy,” said Sunan.
According to data from the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, hypertension is the second most common comorbid COVID-19 after diabetes with a mortality rate of 9.3 percent.
As a result of her history of hypertension, Rachmawati also had a stroke. As is known, high blood pressure is a major risk factor for stroke.
2. Diabetes
It was mentioned by another lawyer for Rachmawati Soekarnoputri, Aldwin Rahadian, that he also had a history of diabetes. In addition to hypertension, data from the COVID-19 Handling Task Force also shows that diabetes is the highest comorbid or comorbid disease with a mortality percentage of up to 9.6 percent.
