Dimitar Rachkov leaves the screen on June 6. His show is the first on Nova TV to go on holiday for the summer, and there is a serious risk that it will not return to air in the fall. It turned out to be too expensive for the rating it makes.
The first edition of “Rachkov’s Forbidden Show” was a real triumph. It registered record ratings due to people’s great curiosity about the new production. After months of viewers wondering where Rachkov was, as many as 2.5 million people watched Nova TV on Sunday night, March 7, to see their favorite presenter on screen again. The actor’s guests at the time were some of the biggest stars in the country – Lubo Neykov, Marius Kurkinski and Krasi Radkov, and the final nail in the coffin of the competition nailed Azis’ meeting with his mother, who returned to Bulgaria from abroad specifically to surprise her son. in the show.
With each subsequent show, however, the interest in the new Sunday show becomes less and less, and the viewers on Sunday night slowly but noticeably return to “Bulgaria is looking for talent” on BTV. For the rating he makes, the production turns out to be too expensive, say people from the kitchen. As Weekend wrote some time ago, under contract, the comedian must have at least a million viewers every Sunday. Despite his striking beginnings, it was already difficult for him to meet this requirement. In addition, it was too difficult for the team to fill the two-hour show with exclusive content each week, which was more interesting than the acrobats, magicians and bands in “Talents”, Weekend writes.
Rachkov himself tried to work behind the cameras just as intensely as in front of them. He was on a par with his people, inviting guests to the show and trying to come up with new jokes to tell on the air. But he was already exhausted from fatigue, because his working day lasted at least 12 hours. Viewers notice that he has visibly lost weight lately. It is said that this is the result of fatigue. He had no time to eat or even drink water. But despite all his efforts, the rating is getting lower every week.
In their inability to invent something new, the team borrows laughter from the theatrical version of “Forbidden Show”. However, these tricks also hit a snag, as the host has been telling the jokes in question for a long time. People who have watched it are annoyed that the same thing is being pushed at them in the theater and on television.
All this is a reason for Rachkov’s show to be stopped in early June. The idea is to air a week longer than “Bulgaria is looking for talent” on BTV, whose final is on May 30. In this way, Nova TV will show superiority over the competition. After that, however, the Sunday show goes on a long summer vacation. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
According to rumors, Rachkov collects BGN 80,000 a month from his show on Nova. However, working there was so stressful that he preferred to get rid of the fat salary, but to be calmer. In case his show is not returned to the air in the fall, it is possible that the host will return as the face of “The Masked Singer” and “Like Two Drops of Water” in place of Gerasim Georgiev-Gero, who replaced him last September.
