Following an MR-Engagés agreement reached on Wednesday evening, Thuin becomes “blue” again – a first in 24 years – with a relatively comfortable majority of 13 seats (out of 21), including 8 for the MR and 5 for the Engagés. Rachel Sobry will be the new mayor of the municipal college, which will be made up of 4 MR and 3 IC-Les Engagés. The names of the aldermen have not yet been decided, we are told.
Rachel Sobry (1060 votes in preference) indicates in a press release: “The Thudinians have decided to place their trust in me with a score that honors me, I will therefore devote all the energy and time to the function of mayor of Thuin which she deserves.”
Karine Cosyns (923 votes in preference) of IC-Les Engagés and outgoing alderwoman does not deny the work carried out in the previous legislature (Editor’s note: IC was allied to the PS), but also indicates in a press release: “we wanted to prioritize compatibility programs and an alliance that reflects a balance We found these elements in our discussions with the MR.
