Rachel Hazes has partly been proven right by the judge in summary proceedings she had brought against her former best friend Marieke van Beek. The court ordered Van Beek to return documents that she had taken from the company Melvin Produkties after the end of her employment. The court does not require her to destroy private footage that Van Beek still had in her hands.
Until March 1, 2020, Van Beek worked as an office manager and personal assistant at Melvin Produkties, the production company that André Hazes left to Rachel Hazes. After the termination of her contract, Van Beek had to return the documents she still had in her possession to the company. She hadn’t done that yet. Van Beek still had the complete administration of the production company in his hands.
She had also made a backup of the company mailbox. Van Beek has sent e-mails with attachments from the company to at least one third party, it appeared during the hearing. The court ruled that Van Beek must return the back-up and make an overview of which documents it provided to whom and when.
Hazes’ company had also demanded that Van Beek destroy medical information and private footage of the Hazes family, but that demand was rejected by the judge. Because Hazes has been proved right by the judge for the most part, Van Beek must also pay the legal costs for Hazes.
Two other lawsuits between Hazes and Van Beek
In addition to this case, there are also two lawsuits between the two former best friends. One of them is about a house that Hazes bought and rented to Van Beek. According to Hazes, Van Beek paid far too little for the house and she still had to repay a loan of thousands of euros. Hazes hoped to get the money through the courts. That amount can add up considerably, because Van Beek had already lived in the house for four years and would not have paid any rent for fifteen months.
Van Beek is also currently involved in another lawsuit together with Roxeanne Hazes and Rob Israël, Rachel’s former business partner. Hazes wants to hear about a power of attorney she provided when she had a breakdown in 2016. According to lawyer Royce de Vries, who represents Hazes in this case, the three “misused” that power of attorney. They have “enriched themselves”, he said in April last year.
The court in Amsterdam ruled in October last year that Hazes may only hear the three attorneys about an invoice for a coaching program of 24,000 euros. Hazes has appealed in that case. An oral hearing of this will take place on 6 September at the Amsterdam Court of Appeal.
