Races without spectators? Maybe it’ll be weird with them, I guess David

Petr Slavík / Czech biathlon

You will go to the World Cup sprint on Friday as the eleventh woman in the overall ranking and the third in the new category under 25. Is it a pleasant sight for you?

It’s better than after the first part of the saint. I don’t follow the overall ranking so much, I will look at how much I do before the massage.

You try to add faster shooting to the traditionally good run. Do you feel a shift?

That’s one of the few things I absolutely fail at. Maybe it will come by itself and when they start hitting more, I’ll be faster. There isn’t much time to work on it between races, we adjust the position as easily as possible, but I won’t accelerate by five seconds in two days. Rather, I need to gain confidence.

According to the original calendar, you were supposed to move to France, are you happy for the next races in Hochfilzen?

I don’t mind, we have nice tracks and facilities here. We’ve been abroad since the beginning of November, it’s been a long time, but I’m used to it. It definitely helped that I got home for a few days before the start of the season. In Hochfilzen, it’s also easier because there are longer days than in Finland, although we didn’t really realize it until we saw the light here.

University lectures take place online, so now as a student at the Czech University of Agriculture you have a greater participation than in other years?

It is true that I prosecute more than normal. Sometimes it’s a mess, but now we have the last week.

For runners, the Northerners miss out on races, for jumpers and downhill skiers the whole expeditions had to leave, weren’t you afraid of such a scenario even in biathlon?

I kind of thought something like this could happen. I didn’t believe that so many people could stay together without infection, but so far it has worked. Fortunately.

Are you already used to the biathlon bubble, or do some measures not make sense to you?

I don’t think about it that much anymore. The worst thing is to go for covid tests every four days. And we still forget the veil. We can’t go to the hotel without it, so it happens that we open the door without a drape, but of course we realize it right away.

How do you cope with the absence of spectators?

Of course it’s different, but I’m also used to it and it doesn’t seem strange to me anymore. It may seem strange to us now that the audience will be somewhere again. (smile)

It’s a real slap, the Slovak biathlon star is pouring ashes on its head

Are you already looking forward to a few quieter days at home?

I take it that covid also goes at Christmas, so it will be completely different from previous years, when we go to mom, dad, grandmothers. Now it will be limited, moreover, after Christmas there is another traditional biathlon exhibition, only this year instead of Schalke in Ruhpolding.

At least you’re going after your favorite horses at Christmas?

Yes, that is one of the few things that will remain. We go to them in the morning, then to the forest in the afternoon, we prepare apples and other goodies.
