“Race Across The World: Mendoza to Ushuaia – The Longest Leg of the Journey”

The remaining pairs make a route from Mendoza to Ushuaia. It is the longest leg of the entire journey; it is of course a final for a reason. Howard Komproe and friend Dre are the first to leave, because they are also the first to arrive in Mendoza last week. Not much later, Hugo Kennis and Eva Cleven leave. Finally, Bastiaan Ragas and son Sem go out.

Team Kennis and team Komproe soon run into each other at a bus station. And where team Komproe takes the night bus later that evening, team Kennis manages to arrange a sweet taxi driver who wants to take them all the way to the end point Ushuaia. Although they are hesitant at first, because they are not on the road at night, they go for it anyway and have a pleasant trip with the taxi driver and her birthday child.

Team Ragas is the last to leave and can already see the storm coming. “What we can also do is? Fuck it. We’re not doing a race anymore, we’re going to make a trip out of it,” says Bastiaan to his son. But Sam doesn’t feel like that. “That’s weak.” While his father considers it a lost race, Sem has a much nicer theory. “We won, didn’t we? The two of us, what we were all allowed to do and for our relationship, really won hard.” Nice words from Sam. They decide to go to the finishing point anyway, even though they know they won’t officially win the race anymore.

The battle is therefore still between team Komproe and team Kennis. Martijn Krabbé has the redeeming answer. The winners are Hugo and Eva. They were the first to reach ‘the end of the world’. “No, fuck off! No”, Eva screams. When Howard and Dre arrive they see the picture of Hugo and Eva. “I’ll give it to them, man,” says Howard.

And what about team Ragas? Father and son are really late for the exact destination, but they do arrive in Ushuaia. Martijn is waiting for them there. “We did it buddy. On his own,” says Bastiaan to his son.
