The District Health Secretariat received 80,000 doses of rabies vaccine for dogs and cats from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, which allows it to resume starting this Thursday, July 13, at 26 fixed free care points.
In Bogotá, it is essential to guarantee canine and feline anti-rabies vaccination as a primary strategy for the prevention of rabies, for which reason it is expected to vaccinate about 405,000 dogs and cats in the remainder of 2023, according to the Ministry of Health.
In addition to the fixed points, within the framework of the ‘Salud a Mi Barrio, Salud a Mi Vereda’ territorial model, activities will be reactivated in the territory, such as active search and extramural vaccination days, where health teams will be deployed throughout all localities looking house to house for companion animals that must be vaccinated.

Vaccination is enabled for dogs and cats over 3 months of age. They must not present vomiting, diarrhea, fever or any other symptom of illness. Females must not be pregnant, that is, pregnant. The animal must not have received the rabies vaccine in the last year.
