The rabies vaccination campaign, which will take place between August 20 and 21 in the city of El Alto, will reach 341,000 animals, including dogs and cats. The activity will be carried out at fixed points and house by house, according to the person in charge Yuli Alave.
The representative of the Regional Health Service (Seres) of El Alto explained that in the opportunity the dosage to these animals will reach 280,000 dogs and 80,000 felines for which there will be a coordinated work with the different health instances that the municipality of this city, as well as the Departmental Health Service (Headquarters) La Paz.
“We already have the staff that will be distributed at different times and in this way achieve one hundred percent coverage in the 14 districts of the Alteña city, for which we will also have the officials of the 58 health centers with which this city,” Alave explained.
Among the 10,000 brigade members for the campaign that will last two days, the Seres has specialized personnel in channelers, vaccinators, registrars and supervisors who will be distributed in different points such as squares, parks and those officials who will cover house by house .
As for the provision of vaccines for this campaign, it is guaranteed through the La Paz Headquarters, in coordination with the Ministry of Health, authorities who also gave the go-ahead for the realization of this campaign that will have the purpose of preserving the health of people through the vaccination of these two species of animals.
While the supplies such as headbands, vaccination cards and the forms that must be filled out with the data of the dogs or cats and the address of their owners will be granted by the municipality of El Alto, through the direction of zoonoses and the secretary of health. .
“We hope to comply with all the dogs and cats that exist in the El Alto city, and then see the possibility of facing the way to reach those stray and vagrant dogs that despite not having the quantity, but that is one of the problems that we must face”, the person in charge.
CASES OF RABIES
As for the cases of canine rabies, according to the Seres de El Alto official Yuli Alave, he announced that at the moment there is only one that was presented in the Senkata network of District 8 of this city.
“What we can remember is that in the past administrations of 2018 and 2019 we know data of approximately 17 cases of canine rabies, which according to what we know were controlled, so it did not generate a major health problem in people”, Alave explained.
As for the only case in this sector of the Alteña city, it was also controlled, so at the moment in the city of El Alto, there is no major problem on this issue, according to the official of said health entity.
