The number of corona cases in Germany continues to increase. The latest figures from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) show that the number of reproductions, or R-value for short, continues to rise after being above 1 for the first time in weeks at the weekend. According to the latest information from the institute (data status 01.06.2020, 0:00 a.m.), it is now 1.2. This means that an average of ten infected infect twelve more. The R value represents the infection process from about a week and a half ago and can therefore fluctuate rapidly in the event of short-term outbreaks. The day before, the value was 1.04.
Since mid-May, the RKI has also been giving the so-called “7-day R”. The value shows the infection process eight to 16 days ago. Therefore, it is less subject to fluctuations. According to the Institute’s estimates, this value is currently 0.95.
New district above the limit
Compared to the information from Sunday are the RKI 333 new corona cases became known, eleven infected people died in the same period. According to the new case numbers, the district is now also located Sonneberg in Thuringia above the limit of 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days. There was an outbreak in a nursing home.
The district is also located Coburg still above the limit, here several care facilities are affected. The RKI is also observing the situation in the district of Göttingen, where – presumably after private celebrations – 36 people have been demonstrably involved with the Corona virus infected. According to the institute, the overall health risk remains high in Germany, and very high for risk groups.
