The trial of former pop superstar R. Kelly (53) in New York, which has already been postponed several times in the corona pandemic, is now set to start in April 2021. A jury should be selected from mid-March, the trial is provisionally scheduled for April 7, the prosecutor in the Brooklyn district of New York announced on Thursday. The singer (“I Believe I Can Fly”), who is in custody in Chicago, is charged, among other things, with sexual abuse of minors.
But he protests his innocence and has pleaded not guilty several times. Long indictments have been filed against Kelly in Chicago and Minnesota.
