Politics is a contact sport, you can’t send a handshake by e-mail.

Thus, the co-chairman of “Democratic Bulgaria” Hristo Ivanov described the relations between the union and “There is such a people”. After winning the election, party leader Slavi Trifonov announced the composition of the cabinet and the name of the prime minister, seeking support for his government from other political forces. Despite publications about problems in the biographies of some of the candidates, “There is such a people” refused to withdraw them. In the end, Trifonov withdrew the proposed cabinet due to a lack of support from other parties.

In an interview with BNT, Trifonov announced that he had personal meetings with Hristo Ivanov and Maya Manolova from “Stand up BG! We are coming!” in his office. According to him, they discussed the possible support for the cabinet of “There is such a people”. “We have not met with Mr. Trifonov before or since. Politics is a contact sport, you cannot send a handshake by e-mail. People need to talk to each other. Trifonov invited me on August 7, when the chances of realization were lost. “I explained to him why we cannot support his unprecedentedly weak government,” Ivanov said.

He added that in the last 30 years, there has always been one big player in politics who ranks the other smaller ones. According to him, a new construction is now underway, in which 4 parties are gathered within 5%.
